The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the postponement of its planned nationwide voter revalidation exercise until after the 2027 general elections.
In a statement issued on Friday, April 10, the commission said the move followed deliberations held during a meeting between INEC and Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs).

The National Commissioner and Chairman of its Information and Voter Education Committee, Mohammed Haruna, made this disclosure shortly after the stakeholders meeting.
“Following deliberations, the commission resolved to postpone the exercise until after the 2027 General Election,” the statement read.
The commission, however, did not immediately provide further details regarding the reasons for the postponement or a new timeline for the exercise.
