Members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the Ibadan South West (IBSW) Local Government Area of Oyo State have elected both wards and local government executives of the party.
The new executives were elected during the Ward and local government congresses held at Oke Ado in Ibadan, the state capital, on Thursday.
The congresses were supervised by representatives of the national leadership of the party, led by a former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Rasheed Afolabi.
It was attended by a gubernatorial aspirant on the platform of the party, Olooye Adegboyega Taofeek Adegoke (FCA), who hails from the local government area. He was accompanied by party leaders, including Hon Wale Afolabi, Hon Oyetunde Oyetunji, Hon Tunde Adisa and others.
The local government congress produced 31 officials, among whom are: Mr Michael Omotosho as Chairman; Alhaji Bello Ibrahim as Vice Chairman. Hon Alimi Ganiyu as Secretary; Mrs Kemi Awolesin as Women Leader; Ibrahim Yunusa as Youth Leader, and Saheed Ado as Publicity Secretary.
Others are: Audu Muideen as Treasurer, Modinat Rasheed as Financial Secretary, Akinola Akeem as Welfare Secretary and Amidu Muili as Auditor.
Adegoke, who is the Aare Egbe-Omo Balogun of Ibadanland, while speaking with journalists at the end of the congress, noted that the party is ready to take over the mantle of leadership both in the state and in Nigeria in general.
He said that the party is the only party that can take Nigerians out of the present problems, stressing that, “The government in power does not want the opposition to exit. That is why they are doing what they are doing. But it is a collective responsibility to chase them out.
“ADC is ready to take over in the state and Nigeria in general. We need the support of the people, and that is why we are calling on the people to join our party.
“As I am talking to you now, ADC has better chances to win the next general elections in Oyo State. People should come out so that we can form the next government in Nigeria and Oyo State”, he said.
