Wike-Led PDP Disowns Turaki Faction Meeting With ADC

Crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has intensified as the faction aligned with Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, disowned the meeting between the party and leaders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) on Wednesday.

In a statement issued by the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Jungudo Mohammed, the Wike-backed leadership described claims of any engagement with the ADC as “misleading” and unfounded.

The party stressed that it did not authorize or convene any meeting, whether formal or informal, with the ADC or its representatives.

It further clarified that individuals reported to have attended such discussions did so in their personal capacities and cannot represent the PDP in any form.

The reaction follows a solidarity meeting held in Abuja involving key opposition figures linked to the Tanimu Turaki-led PDP faction and ADC leaders which was aimed at building a coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections.

However, the Wike-led camp has distanced itself from the gathering, urging party members, supporters, and the public to disregard what it described as baseless claims.

“The PDP has not held any meeting with the ADC… such reports do not reflect the position of the party,” the statement emphasized.

The faction also reiterated its focus on internal party processes, noting that preparations for upcoming primaries are progressing and further details will be communicated in due course.
