Former Kano State Governor Ibrahim Shekarau has confirmed his plan to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Reports have claimed that he is on his way to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), but the former Minister of Education did not disclose his next political destination when he received the APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda in his Kano home yesterday.
However, he said he was tired of “the cancer that has infected us in the PDP”. He said the interest of the state would inform his move to another party. Shekarau said:“In a couple of days, you will hear from us whether we will join you or not, but I assure you that you will hear from us.”
He added: “Kano first. If Kano is in crisis because of that I pray may Allah deny me that position.”
Nentawe appealed to the two political leaders to return to the APC, describing himself as their “son” in need of guidance and support. According to him, the North is at a decisive moment that requires unity and collaboration among key stakeholders to ensure stability and progress.
