Aminu Bande Resigns From PDP

The 2023 People’s Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate in Kebbi State, Gen. Aminu Bande (Rtd) has tendered his resignation from the party, citing lack of stability within the PDP as the reason for his exit.

New Telegraph recalls that Bande contested against Governor Nasir Idris in a fiercely contested election that was inconclusive.

In a letter to the Ward Chairman of PDP Nasarawa 1, Birnin-Kebbi, dated Sunday, April 5, 2026, Gen. Bande announced his decision to leave the party immediately.

“I write to formally tender my resignation from the People’s Democratic Party, effective from today, Sunday, 5th April, 2026,” Gen. Bande stated.

“This decision comes following deep consideration, reflection, and engagements with my associates and other stakeholders.

“Further decisions on my political endeavors shall be announced soonest,” Gen. Bande said, leaving the door open for his next move.”

His resignation is seen as a significant setback for the PDP in Kebbi State, with many wondering what the future holds for the party.

The development has sent shockwaves through the state’s political landscape, with many speculating on Gen. Bande’s next move.
