Police Urge Sokoto Community To Speak Out With Concerns

The Sokoto State Police Command is urging members of the public to come forward with their complaints and concerns, assuring that the police are willing, capable, and ready to address such issues professionally and promptly.

The State Police Commissioner, CP Hayatu Hassan Shaffa, stated this during the 2026 National Police Week, which included a walkathon for peace, visibility, and public safety in Sokoto.

The walkathon started at the Sokoto Command Police Headquarters, Gwandu Road, Sokoto, and proceeded to Gidan Man Ada Roundabout, covering a total distance of approximately 5 kilometres.

According to a statement issued by DSP Ahmad Rufa’i, PPRO of the command, officers and men of the Command attended the exercise.

The exercise aimed to reaffirm the visible presence of the police within communities and assure residents that they are accessible, responsive, and actively engaged in ensuring public safety.

It also showcased the physical readiness and fitness of the Command’s personnel.

CP Shaffa emphasised that the walkathon underscores the Command’s commitment to community-oriented policing and aligns with this year’s theme, “Community Partnership: Building Trust.”

He encouraged residents to support and partner with the Command to maintain peace and security, stating that the police are always within reach.
