A technology firm, Pillarcraft Cloud Solutions, has unveiled a new platform to help businesses comply with the Nigeria Revenue Service’s emerging electronic invoicing requirements.
The firm disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday, announcing the launch of UsawaConnect, a solution designed to simplify compliance with the country’s evolving digital tax framework.
Highlighting the platform’s purpose, the company said UsawaConnect is “a platform designed to help Nigerian businesses comply with the Nigeria Revenue Service e-invoicing framework.”
The statement noted that Nigeria is entering “a new era of tax compliance, where invoices must be digitally validated, assigned unique identifiers, and transmitted through approved government systems,” warning that many businesses remain unprepared for the transition.
It added that the new regulatory framework marks a significant shift from traditional invoicing practices, as invoices must now be “digitally structured, validated through approved systems, assigned unique reference identifiers, and submitted electronically before they are recognised as valid.”
According to the firm, this development represents “a fundamental change in how businesses manage revenue, billing, and compliance.” The company explained that implementation of the e-invoicing regime would follow a phased approach, with large taxpayers expected to lead adoption, while medium-sized firms will come under the framework from July 2026.
The statement warned that businesses that fail to comply risk “invoice rejection, delays in receiving payments, operational disruption, and increased exposure during tax audits.”
To address these challenges, the firm said UsawaConnect was developed to serve as a bridge between existing business systems and regulatory requirements.
It explained that the platform enables organisations to continue using their current accounting, enterprise resource planning, and point-of-sale systems, while automatically generating compliant invoices and transmitting them to the NRS platform.
“This eliminates the need for complex internal system changes while ensuring full compliance,” the company said.
The firm further noted that although the regulation applies directly to businesses, implementation would largely be driven by professionals, including accountants, tax practitioners, and technology consultants.
The Chief Executive Officer of Pillarcraft Accounting & Cloud Solutions, Bayode Agbi, was quoted in the statement, saying, “E-invoicing is not something most businesses can implement on their own. Accountants and advisors will be at the centre of this transition. UsawaConnect enables them to deliver this efficiently, while helping businesses stay compliant without disruption.”
The company also announced the launch of a partner programme under the platform, which will allow accounting firms and consultants to provide e-invoicing implementation services and support clients through compliance transitions.
It said the initiative would help professionals “build new advisory and recurring revenue streams,” positioning them as key players in Nigeria’s growing digital tax ecosystem.
Pillarcraft stated that the platform is designed to support businesses across different stages, including large organisations preparing for early compliance, medium-sized firms approaching regulatory deadlines, and small and medium enterprises seeking scalable solutions.
“UsawaConnect is designed to integrate seamlessly into existing workflows, reducing disruption while ensuring compliance,” the statement added.
The company confirmed that the platform is now available nationwide, urging businesses and professionals to begin preparations to avoid compliance risks as enforcement timelines draw closer.
The PUNCH earlier in January reported that Pillarcraft Cloud Solutions was accredited as a System Integrator for Nigeria’s new e-invoicing regime, a move that showed the government’s tightening push for digital tax compliance and placed fresh pressure on companies to align their accounting systems with the NRS reporting platform.
The firm confirmed the approval in a statement, stating that the accreditation was granted by the Nigeria Revenue Service in collaboration with the National Information Technology Development Agency.
The NRS also announced the phased rollout of its electronic invoicing and fiscal monitoring system to strengthen tax administration, improve transparency, and promote voluntary compliance among businesses nationwide.
In a notice, it was disclosed that the E-Invoicing & Electronic Fiscal System, also known as the Merchant Buyer Solution, officially went live on August 1, 2025, for large taxpayers following extensive stakeholder consultations and pilot deployments that began in January 2025. The service noted that implementation for this category was later extended to November 2025 to accommodate operational and transitional considerations.
Medium taxpayers—businesses with annual turnover between N1bn and N5bn—are expected to begin engagement and pilot phases in 2026, with full implementation scheduled for July 2026 and enforcement to follow in early 2027.
For emerging taxpayers with turnover below N1bn, the rollout is scheduled to commence in 2027, with enforcement to begin in 2028.
The NRS advised businesses to identify their categories and participate actively in onboarding, noting that enforcement will begin only after the engagement, pilot, and post-go-live review phases are completed.
