Senator representing Kaduna North Senatorial District, Ibrahim Khalid Mustapha, has formally resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The lawmaker cited recurring internal crises and divisions within the party as reasons for his move.
In a resignation letter dated March 27, 2026, and addressed to the PDP Ward Chairman in Soba Ward, Soba Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Mustapha said ongoing disputes, court cases, and leadership disagreements have made it increasingly difficult for him to remain an active member of the PDP.

Mustapha noted that the prolonged conflicts within the PDP have weakened the unity and direction that once defined the party.
This according to him has affected his ability to sustain meaningful participation and commitment.
“I wish to formally tender my resignation as a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) effective from today,” the letter read in part.
The senator, however, expressed gratitude to party members for their support and encouragement over the years, describing them as a strong pillar throughout his political journey.
