Ex-AGF Aondoakaa Resigns From APC, May Move To PDP

Former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Chief Michael Kaase Aondoakaa, has formally announced his resignation from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Sources close to him told New Telegraph that Chief Aondoakaa, who attended the just concluded PDP National Convention, is set to defect to the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the 2027 election.

Chief Aondoakaa, in a statement he personally signed, said, “I wish to formally notify the general public of my resignation from the All Progressives Congress (APC), effective from Saturday, March 28, 2026.

“This decision follows careful reflection and wide consultations with my family, political associates, and supporters. While I remain grateful for the opportunity to serve and contribute to the growth of the party at various levels during my membership, prevailing circumstances have made it necessary for me to take this step in the overall interest of my people and democratic values.

“I wish to express my profound appreciation to His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for the visionary leadership he has continued to provide for our nation, as well as for the support and attention Benue State has enjoyed under his administration. I assure him of my continued loyalty to his Renewed Hope Agenda.

“Furthermore, I deeply appreciate the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator Dr George Akume, for the quality leadership he has provided to the APC family in Benue State. I acknowledge his role in shaping the political landscape of our dear state and assure him of my enduring respect”.

Chief Aondoakaa also appreciated the leadership and members of the APC in his Ushongo Local Government Area, the entire people of the state and beyond for the cooperation and support extended to him over the years, stressing that the relationships he built and experiences gathered remain invaluable.

He called on all his teeming supporters and associates to remain calm, peaceful, and steadfast, noting, however, that “a new direction aimed at salvaging and repositioning Benue State in the best interest of our people will be communicated in due course”.
