A’Ibom Police Command Day Starts Monday With Several Activities


Akwa Ibom State Police Command will on Monday join counterparts from all over the country to celebrate the 2026 Police Day.

DSP Timfon John, Police Public Relations Officer, told journalists over the weekend that the Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, is set to commemorate the 2026 Police Day with a series of activities aimed at highlighting the vital role of the Police in ensuring peace and security across the State.

According to her, “The week-long celebration, an annual event held in honour of the Nigeria Police Force, is themed ‘Community Partnership: Building Trust.”

She added, “The programmes are designed to strengthen community relations, showcase police capabilities, and promote public safety, while providing opportunities for meaningful engagement between the Police and the public.

She highlighted that as part of the activities lined up for the celebration, personnel of the Command will embark on community-based outreach programmes, including environmental sanitation exercises across selected locations, as well as medical outreach services for members of the public.

She further averred, “There will also be a coordinated walkathon with officers participating to promote unity, visibility, and community engagement.

“In addition, the Command will carry out public sensitisation campaigns focusing on the prevention of electoral violence and other related offences. Road users will also be educated on safe driving practices and the importance of compliance with traffic regulations”.

“The programme will further feature a solemn presentation of welfare cheques to families of deceased officers, in honour of the sacrifices made by fallen heroes and as part of ongoing efforts to support their loved ones.

“The celebration will culminate in a grand finale scheduled to be held on 7th April 2026 in Abuja.

She said the Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, has reassured the good people of Akwa Ibom State of the Command’s unwavering commitment to maintaining peace and security.

“He emphasised the importance of sustained collaboration between the Police and the public in the fight against crime.

“The Akwa Ibom State Police Command invites members of the public to actively participate in the scheduled activities and join in celebrating the dedication and sacrifices of officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force”.
