The Nigeria Police Force, Zone 10 Headquarters, Sokoto, is set to commence the National Police Day 2026 celebration with a sensitization program on preventing electoral violence and ballot snatching.
‘The Zone, which comprises Sokoto, Zamfara, and Kebbi states, is under the leadership of Assistant Inspector-General of Police, AIG Gyogon Augustine Grimah.
The public, especially residents of Sokoto, Kebbi, and Zamfara states, is informed that the celebration will kick off on Monday, March 30, and run through Tuesday, April 7, 2026. AIG Grimah has briefed personnel at the zonal headquarters on the event schedule, in line with the Inspector- General of Police’s directive.
According to ASP Abdallah Faruk Ambursa, Zonal Po- lice Public Relations Officer, the event aligns with the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan’s directives.
The police are emphasizing safety, law and order, and protection of lives and property during the celebration. The public, community leaders, and stakeholders are encouraged to participate in the activities at the zonal headquarters and the three state commands.
Grimah reaffirmed the police’s commitment to community-oriented policing and called for sustained partnership in building a safer society.
The week-long celebration, themed “Community Partnership: Building Trust,” aims to strengthen police-community relations and promote collaboration in crime prevention.
Planned activities include: Sanitation and cleaning exercises, Medical outreach, Walkathon, Sensitization on safe driving practices, Presentation of cheques to families of deceased police officers.
