Jehovah’s Witnesses throughout the world will hold a special talk titled: “Who Will Restore the Earth?”, in all its congregations today. Over 118,000 such congregations are in Nigeria.
A statement in Lagos said the 30-minute presentation will examine what the Bible teaches about mankind’s relationship with the earth, the prospect of its future restoration, and how individuals can benefit from the Bible’s promises.
It is part of the annual campaign of the organisation where they share the Bible’s message of hope, inviting the public to two special events focused on the promise of a better future. The campaign, which commenced about four weeks ago, is being carried out by over nine million members.
The special talk being held today will be followed by the annual observance of the Lord’s Evening Meal on Thursday, April 2. National Spokesman for Jehovah’s Witnesses in Nigeria, Olusegun Eroyemi, said the programme is intended to help people better understand the significance of Jesus’ life and teachings.
“The life and teachings of Jesus have great significance to so many around the world. We hope this event, an observance recognised by Christians continuously for almost 2,000 years, helps visitors see how it connects us to a wonderful hope,” Eroyemi said.
The Lord’s Evening Meal commemorates an event instituted by Jesus Christ with his apostles nearly 2,000 years ago on Nisan 14 of the Jewish calendar in 33 C.E. According to Luke 22:19, Jesus instructed his followers: “Keep doing this in remembrance of me.”
Jehovah’s Witnesses observe the occasion annually on the corresponding date as a reminder of the hope, based on Bible teachings, of a restored earth. The organisation noted that more than 21 million people attended the observance worldwide last year.
Both the special talk and the Lord’s Evening Meal are free and open to the public. Interested persons can obtain further information and find a nearby venue through the official website, jw.org.
