Organizers NamesJoke Silva Head Judge Of 12th Edition


Veteran Nigerian actress and wife of Olu Jacob, Joke Silva, has been named the Head Judge for the 12th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA), billed to hold on Saturday, May 9, 2026.

The organisers of the event made this announcement at a news conference held in the MultiChoice studio located in Ilupeju, Lagos, on Friday, March 27,

Saturday Telegraph reports that the AMVCAs’ 12th edition includes significant modifications that strengthen its commitment to equitable representation and expand its pan-African reach.

With the addition of Best Indigenous Language – North Africa and Best Indigenous Language – Central Africa, this year’s edition broadens its Indigenous Language categories. This is a significant step toward ensuring that Africa’s varied languages, regions, and creative voices are more fully celebrated on a continental stage.

According to the Executive Head of Content and Channels, MultiChoice West Africa, Atinuke Babatunde, “Beyond the lights, the red carpet, and the applause, there is a deeper story – one of craftsmanship.

In addition to three special recognition awards for Lifetime Achievement and Trailblazer, the 12th AMVCA will have a total of 32 award categories, comprising 18 jury-decided categories and 11 public voting categories.

Nollywood actor Chiemezie Imo, who won the AMVCA, will host the much-awaited nominee announcement on Sunday, March 29, 2026, starting at 7 PM on Africa Magic channels.
