FG Reaffirms Commitment to Support for IDPs in Nigeria

The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Bernard Doro, has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to supporting Internally Displaced Persons across the country, stressing that their welfare remains a top priority.

Speaking ahead of activities to mark the 74th birthday of President Bola Tinubu, the Minister said the government would continue to strengthen humanitarian interventions aimed at improving the living conditions of displaced Nigerians.

Doro noted that the ministry is working closely with relevant partners and agencies to enhance support systems in IDP camps while also pursuing long-term solutions that will enable affected persons to rebuild their lives and return safely to their communities.

He explained that the challenges faced by displaced populations require sustained attention, compassion, and coordinated efforts from both government and non-governmental stakeholders.

According to him, humanitarian service must remain rooted in dignity, empathy, and a strong commitment to protecting the most vulnerable in society.

The Minister also disclosed plans to visit an IDP camp in Abuja as part of efforts to engage directly with displaced families, assess their needs, and demonstrate solidarity with them.

He reiterated that the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu places strong emphasis on inclusive development, ensuring that no segment of the population is left behind.

Doro further called on Nigerians to support humanitarian efforts through acts of kindness and generosity, noting that collective responsibility is key to addressing the plight of displaced persons.

He assured that the Federal Government would not relent in its efforts to provide relief, restore livelihoods, and promote stability in communities affected by displacement and conflict.
