Enuope Wins North America Indigenous Artiste Of The Year Award


America-based Nigerian hip hop artiste and software developer, Olalekan Olaleye, popularly known as Enuope, has emerged as the winner of the prestigious North America Indigenous Artiste of the Year Award, marking a significant milestone in his rising international career.

Enuope was declared winner of the award category on Friday, March 27, at the North America Music Award ceremony  held by Naija Standard Newspaper INC USA in collaboration with City People Media Group.

The event brought together notable figures and eminent Nigerians across different sectors, celebrating outstanding contributions by African artistes in the diaspora.

New Telegraph reports that Enuope clinched the award after securing the highest number of votes among a competitive list of ten finalists.

The nominees reflected a diverse mix of globally recognized and emerging talents, including Wale, Jidenna, Rotimi, Enuope, Skepta, Naira Marley, Eriife, Paul IK Dairo, Victoria Tunde, and Portable.

The strong lineup underscored the significance of Enuope’s win, highlighting his growing influence and connection with audiences.

Enuope’s music, known for blending indigenous sounds with contemporary styles, has steadily gained recognition both within and outside Nigeria.

His dual career as a software developer and musician also sets him apart, reflecting a unique blend of creativity and technical expertise that resonates with a modern global audience.

In his acceptance speech, Enuope revealed that he is elated to be the first Nigeria to win the prestigious award, describibg his happiness to have won it out of the ten finalists.

“It is a great honour to be the first Nigerian to win this award. It is a great honour for people to listen to you and understand the message you are trying to pass across through your music. For people to understand your message as an artiste is awesome,” he said.

Enuope then continued by appreciating the organisers of the show, “I would love to appreciate the organisers an my team. I am so overwhelmed to have won this award, it is a proud moment for me.”

The award ceremony took place at the conference room of City People Magazine and was attended by several distinguished personalities.

Among the dignitaries present were Seye Kehinde, Felix Duke, Elijah George Otumu, Sanya Ojo, and Otunba Olaleye, among others.

Their presence added prestige to the event, further emphasizing its importance within the Nigerian and diaspora entertainment community.

The North America Indigenous Artiste of the Year Award is regarded as a platform that recognizes African artistes who have successfully promoted indigenous culture through music while making an impact internationally.

Enuope’s victory not only highlights his personal achievements but also signals the increasing global acceptance and appreciation of indigenous Nigerian music.
