Adamawa To Immunize 1.4m Children Under 0-5 Against Polio

No fewer than 1.4 million children aged between 0-5 years are to be immunized by the Adamawa State Primary Healthcare Development Agency in it’s first immunization exercise for 2026.

The Executive Chairman of the Agency, Dr Suleiman Bashir disclosed this during a “Media Dialogue with Journalist, Social Media Influencers, stakeholders and Partners” in Yola on Friday said the exercise which will last four days will kickstart on Saturday, March 28, 2026.

Dr Suleiman Bashir stated that “Already Adamawa State has been declared polio free State, emphasizing that the campaign is geared towards sustaining the tempo”.

“Adamawa State has already been declared a Polio Free State, but our campaign and immunization drive is to ensure that the tempo is maintained “.

“Our mission as agency is to ensure that no new cases crop up without detection, he maintained.

He explained that 1685 personnel will commence the four days exercise as they would be designated into House to house, fixed mobile and Special team for effective coverage.

On why the Polio is resurfacing, Dr Suleiman Bashir believed that some countries had little vulnerability because of their inability to complete their vaccines.

He urged the Media to continue in the dissemination of information and awareness aimed at enlightening the masses of the Agency efforts in this direction.

New Telegraph reports that the National Immunization Plus Days is supported by UNICEF in collaboration with Adamawa State Primary Healthcare Development Agency.
