The Osun State chapter of the All Progres- sives Congress (APC) has berated Governor Ademola Adeleke and the Accord Party over claims that former governor Gboyega Oyetola and its governorship candidate, Munirudeen Oyebamiji, travelled to Umrah to prepare a list of the next elective and appointive political functionaries in the state.
In a statement issued Tuesday by its Director of Media and Information, Mogaji Kola Olabisi, the party described the claim as merely existing in the imagination of those who composed and published the rumour.
Olabisi questioned the logic behind the claim, stating that if Oyetola and Oyebamiji truly intended to determine party candidates, there was no reason to do so on a religious trip.
The APC further faulted insinuations regarding the party’s arrangements, including claims about preferred candidates for senatorial positions, describing such narratives as illogical.
Olabisi also took a swipe at the state government over what it described as unnecessary attention to social events, particularly the recent wedding of the son of Senator Iyiola Omisore, which the government said some opposition figures failed to attend.
He said: “If not for idle- ness, one wonders what business a party, which is accidentally in government, has with who attended which wedding party or who did not attend such a wedding, as if it is such social assemblies that would correct the obvious acts of misgovernance in the state under the administration of Governor Adeleke.”
The APC maintained that no amount of what it called demarketing tactics would stop the opposition from unseating the current administration, insisting that residents of the state had seen through the government’s actions.
Olabisi urged APC supporters not to be swayed by the alleged lies peddled by Governor Adeleke and his allies, and called on them to remain focused and back Oyebamiji in the August 15, 2026, governorship election.
