Osun Lawmaker Makes U-Turn On Accord Exit, Pledges Support For Adeleke

A member of the Osun State House of Assembly, Adesina Rabiu, Tuesday withdrew his earlier resignation from the Accord Party (AP), pledging his loyalty to the party and Governor Ademola Adeleke.

The House Committee on Home Affairs, Culture and Tourism chairman had submitted a letter addressed to the Speaker Ad- ewale Egbedun, announcing his resignation from the ruling party in the state.

In the letter, the law- maker described his deci- sion as personal, stating that he preferred to keep his reasons private. However, in a dramatic turn, Rabiu appeared in a video alongside Olawale Rasheed, spokesman for the governor, and Egbedun, where he announced the withdrawal of his resignation.

In the video, the law maker, who spoke in Yoruba, said: “Following what happened earlier today, when I wrote a resignation letter from the Accord Party, I hereby state that I have withdrawn the letter.

“I remain in the Accord Party and fully support Governor Ademola Adeleke. “We pray that by August 15, he will win the election. I am solidly behind him and will work wholeheartedly for his success, using everything within my power and resources to ensure victory.”

Recall that the 25 members of the State Assembly elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) recently de- fected to the Accord Party.
