Sultan Turbans New Magajin Garin Sokoto, 21 District Heads


The Sultan of Sokoto and President General of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, on Thursday, turbaned a new Magajin Garin Sokoto, one of the Senior Councillors in the Sultanate Council of Sokoto.

Alhaji Ahmed Bello Danbaba is the son of the late Magajin Garin Sokoto, Alhaji Hassan Ahmed Danbaba, all of whom were direct descendants of the late Premier of Northern Nigeria, Sir Ahmadu Bello, the Sardauna of Sokoto.

Prominent among the new District Heads was the immediate younger brother of Sen. Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, representing Sokoto North Senatorial District, Alhaji Ahmed Barade.

Also among them was the former Speaker of the Sokoto State House of Assembly, Alhaji Lawali Labbo Marghai, and the new Arson Sanyina, District Head of Sanyina, Alhaji Ibrahim Mohammed Sanyina.

Gov. Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto was represented at the event by a three-man delegation led by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Bello Sifawa.

Other members of the delegation were the Chief of Staff, Government House, Sokoto, Alhaji Aminu Halliru Dikko, and the Commissioner for Local Governments and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Ibrahim Dadi Adare.

The historic event was also attended by delegations from the Zazzau Emirate Council in Kaduna State and the Argungu Emirate Council in Kebbi State, among other officials, leaders, and well-wishers from across Sokoto State and beyond.

The turbaning ceremony was conducted by the Magayakin Sarkin Musulmi and the Bargan Sarkin Musulmi, assisted by other Palace officials.

Addressing the gathering, the Sultan admonished the new appointees to be pious, patriotic, fair, just, and equitable to all.

He urged them to steer clear of politics and carry everybody along, including their fellow contestants.

The Sultan also called on them to strive to unite their various domains, promising to continue to operate an open-door policy.
