CapitalSage urges women to step into leadership roles

CapitalSage Technology, an integrated digital financial services group focused on driving inclusive financial growth across Africa, has called on women within its workforce to step boldly into leadership roles and take greater ownership of their career journeys.

The address was made at the organisation’s International Women’s Day event, which convened employees and senior leaders for a session focused on confidence, performance, and purposeful development. The event also marked the launch of a new internal mentorship programme aimed at providing younger female professionals with structured guidance from seasoned colleagues.

In her opening remarks, Dr Yemisi Shittu, Group Executive Director at CapitalSage Holdings, emphasised the need to develop well-rounded professionals who combine technical competence with emotional intelligence and self-awareness. She noted that qualities such as resilience, emotional maturity, and the ability to build meaningful relationships are critical for navigating complex workplace environments and evolving into impactful leaders.

A major highlight of the event was a panel discussion moderated by Olabisi Ogebe, Head of Business at Tiki, a subsidiary of CapitalSage Technology. The session featured industry leaders, including Yvonne Akintomide, Managing Director of Regius Asset Management; Simisola Ojumu, Managing Director of Regius Capital; and Dr Moyosore Odeniyi, Group Head of Audit at CapitalSage Holdings.

Sharing insights from their professional journeys, the panellists encouraged younger women to step outside their comfort zones, remain consistent in self-improvement, and set higher standards for personal and professional growth. They also stressed the importance of seeking mentorship and building relationships with experienced professionals who can offer guidance, perspective, and support for informed decision-making.

Reinforcing the organisation’s commitment to female empowerment, the Group Chief Executive Officer of CapitalSage Technology, Mr Nath Ude, announced the launch of the internal mentoring programme. The initiative will pair younger female employees with seasoned professionals across the organisation to foster career development, boost confidence, and expand professional exposure.

“We want our women to become trailblazers not simply because they are women, but because they are high performers who are ready to lead and make a meaningful impact,” he said.

The programme is expected to play a key role in strengthening leadership capacity among female employees while equipping them with the tools needed to navigate their careers more effectively.

The event concluded with a renewed sense of purpose among participants, who were encouraged to take ownership of their growth journeys and approach future opportunities with confidence and clarity.
