The Association of Waste Managers of Nigeria, Ogun State Chapter, has hailed Governor Dapo Abiodun for his timely intervention in preventing the collapse of the state’s waste management system.
This commendation was contained in a statement made available to journalists on Monday and signed by the state chairman of the association, Pastor Jolaoluwa Gbenga.
Gbenga said, “The recent administrative changes have resolved critical bottlenecks within the Ogun State Waste Management Authority and enhanced the effectiveness of the agency to make the state clean.”
The association congratulated Farouk Akintunde on his appointment as the new Managing Director of OGWAMA and Special Adviser to the Governor on Environment, saying that his years of experience and dedication to service are already reflecting in the effective management of waste in the state.
Gbenga said, “The association is grateful to Gov Dapo Abiodun for the recent appointment of Hon Farouk Akintunde as MD OGWAMA, who is seen as a round peg in a round hole.
His leadership management, particularly in the area of waste management, is quite commendable, and this has already brought about renewed efficiency to the agency’s operations.”
The chairman also lauded the government’s plan to provide Private Sector Partnership (PSP) operators with high-capacity compactor trucks.
He explained that this initiative, communicated via the Commissioner for Environment, Ola Oresanya, is expected to drastically improve waste evacuation across the state.
