The Lagos State Government will convene industry leaders, sustainability professionals, and private sector stakeholders at EcoNexus 3.0, a high-level forum focused on unlocking the financial value of climate and circular economy initiatives within industry.
The event, themed “Beyond Compliance: Monetising Climate and Circular Actions for Industries,” is scheduled to be held on March 24, 2026, in Victoria Island.
According to the Special Adviser to the Governor of Lagos on Climate Change and Circular Economy, Titilayo Oshodi, the forum is designed to help businesses move beyond regulatory compliance and begin to extract measurable economic value from sustainability efforts.
Oshodi disclosed this in a statement made available to The PUNCH, noting that the platform would bring together key industry players to explore practical strategies for integrating climate responsibility with profitability.
She said, “EcoNexus 3.0 introduces a new dimension to the conversation by spotlighting an area many organisations have historically overlooked: the ability to translate sustainability and climate actions into measurable economic and financial value.
“This is the next frontier that will scale climate action and accountability across industries.”
According to her, many companies are already implementing initiatives such as energy efficiency improvements, waste reduction, recycling systems, and responsible sourcing practices, but the financial opportunities embedded in those actions often remain largely untapped.
“Through EcoNexus 3.0, we are introducing a new approach to help industries move beyond regulatory compliance and begin to recognise, structure, and monetise the sustainability and circular economy initiatives they are already implementing,” Oshodi said.
She added that the programme would also showcase innovative tools designed to help organisations measure, manage, and optimise their climate performance.
“During the session, we will also introduce DecarbonIQ, a platform that supports organisations in understanding and managing their carbon emissions and circularity footprint.
“This forms part of the broader effort of the Office of Climate Change and Circular Economy to equip industries with practical sustainability solutions,” she explained.
Oshodi further disclosed that the event would feature a dedicated session on business opportunities for women within the sustainability and circular economy sectors, aligning with global conversations around International Women’s Day.
According to her, the session aims to highlight the growing role of women professionals in shaping sustainability and Environmental, Social, and Governance leadership across industries.
She noted that the EcoNexus platform is part of the state government’s strategy to strengthen collaboration between government and industry as Lagos positions itself as a leader in climate action and circular economy innovation in Africa.
The event is expected to attract senior private sector executives, sustainability practitioners, and policy stakeholders who will examine practical pathways for aligning environmental responsibility with business profitability. Participation in the forum, organisers said, will be strictly by invitation.
