Anambra Reads Riot Act Over Misuse Of Arms By Private Security Outfits

The Anambra State Government has declared war on the misuse of arms by private security outfits in the area, warning that non compliance to this directive would face the long arms of the law.

This decision is on account of sustained reports from members of the public over incidents of abuse of the use of arms by operatives.

The Publicity Secretary of Agunechemba Security Squad, Mr Nweke Nweke, in a statement, said that the move is in conformity with the section 7 of the Anambra Homeland Security Laws of 2025, which mandates that any private security firm operating in the area must register with the Ministry of Homeland Security.

“To strengthen internal security collaboration across Anambra State, Prince Ken Emeakayi, the Special Adviser on Community Security to Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, has convened an important meeting with local vigilante groups and security company owners in the State”

“his initiative aims to coordinate and integrate their activities within the framework of the state’s Homeland organization”

“Prince Emeakayi emphasised the significance of Section 7 of the Anambra Homeland Security Laws of 2025, which mandates that any private security firm operating in the state must register with the State Government after fulfilling other necessary regulatory criteria”

“The release underscores that in line with the state’s internal security regulations, all security firms and armed personnel associated with employers statewide must be officially registered to ensure proper management and accountability”

“An invitation has been extended to all private security firms and their personnel in Anambra State for a vital meeting this Friday at ASTUC Hall within the old Government House in Awka, set for 12 noon”. Emeakayi insists that attendance is mandatory.

Nweke underscored the meeting’s significance, asserting that it would enable the state government to better manage the misuse of arms and rectify the inappropriate utilisation of internal security resources.

He cautioned that non-compliance with this directive may result in consequences.

“This is the first meeting of its kind since Prince Ken Emeakayi took on his role as the Special Adviser on Community Security to Governor Soludo, and it is incredibly important.

“It will offer a valuable chance to exchange crucial security intelligence with our committed crime fighter, Prince Ken Emeakayi. I am confident that all attendees will gain significant insights into security issues,” Nweke remarked
