IDL Sponsors Free Medical Outreach in Ondo Town

Intercontinental Distillers Limited has sponsored a free medical outreach for residents of Ondo Town, Ondo State, as part of activities marking the 20th anniversary of the passing of the late Osemawe of Ondo Town, Oba F.I.A. Adesanoye (Osungbedelola II).

In a statement, IDL noted that it delivered the intervention through its Veleta Sparkling Fruit Wine and Teezers brands to support preventive healthcare and community wellbeing.

About 350 residents aged 40 years and above benefited from the programme, which offered free blood pressure and blood sugar checks, body mass index and nutritional assessments, malaria screening, eye examinations, prostate-specific antigen screening for men over 40, health counselling and essential medications.

Brand Manager of Wines and Bitters at IDL, Celestine Anyanwu, said the outreach represented the firm’s commitment to impactful corporate social responsibility.

He said, “This initiative reflects our commitment to impactful corporate social responsibility and preventive healthcare,” adding that the programme aligned with the company’s values and the service-driven legacy of the late monarch.

Anyanwu noted that Intercontinental Distillers was “pleased to support an intervention that promotes preventive healthcare and improves quality of life” among residents of the host community.

The convener of the outreach, Princess Yewande Amos-Oluwole (née Adesanoye), described the programme as a fitting tribute to her late father.

She thanked IDL for backing the initiative, saying the support enabled the delivery of “vital healthcare services to residents of Ondo.”

Residents who participated commended the organisers for bringing essential medical services closer to the community, particularly for older persons who face barriers accessing routine health checks.
