Broadcast Leaders Affirm Support for Arewa24 & NBC

The Broadcast Media Owners and Practitioners Forum and JKD TV, along with NIGCOMSAT and Hamada Radio FM, have affirmed the important role of Arewa24 in Nigeria’s broadcasting landscape, emphasising their support for the media company and the National Broadcasting Commission.

In separate statements sent to The PUNCH on Tuesday, the leadership of the media groups emphasised that they were not consulted or involved in any alleged actions directed at Arewa24 and NBC.

The Chairman of JKD TV and Hamada Radio FM, Ambassador Yaro Mamman, said, “Our attention has been drawn to statements credited to an organisation called the Northern Media Broadcast Owners Association. We have never been invited or consulted by any such association regarding the activities of any industry player.”

He added, “We support Arewa24 and are in solidarity with their contributions to the Nigerian media ecosystem. The National Broadcasting Commission, having certified Arewa24 as compliant with existing laws and regulations, should be respected. We are proud of the work the NBC leadership is doing and fully back them.”

Mamman also challenged the so-called NBMOA to disclose its members and operate transparently, rather than issuing statements anonymously.

Similarly, ABMPF Chairman Abdullahi Yelwa addressed enquiries from members concerning the alleged claims, stating: “Our forum in no way is involved in or briefed about any purported actions against Arewa24 or NBC. We fully uphold the right of any industry player to practice their trade according to the law and regulatory guidelines.”

ABMPF, a legally registered association, said it is dedicated to promoting professionalism and growth in the broadcast industry in northern Nigeria and supports both Arewa24 and NBC in fulfilling their respective roles.

“Our forum stands by Arewa24 and any broadcast outlet operating legally, and we affirm NBC’s right to regulate the industry in accordance with Nigerian law,” Yelwa said.
