There are indications that the organisers of the annual 10km Owan marathon race have plans to debut at the Lagos/Okpekpe marathon scheduled for February and May this year.
This plan, according to one of the organisers, Mr Chris Ojo, is in a bid to groom talents for international duty over time.
A statement issued by Mr Ojo on Monday noted that the just concluded Owan marathon race was a success and that every plan is on to ensure that the participation in n the Lagos/Okpekpe races would enhance the motivation of its participants.
“This is the essence of the Owan marathon race, which is to discover talents and groom them for global stardom.”
He added: “This is the only way we can prepare them for global stardom and that is to constantly engage them in major marathon races in Nigeria and beyond.”
He said as part of the plan, a coach would soon be unveiled who will train and take these athletes to theLagos and Okpekpe events.
