A pro-President Bola Tinubu Support Group under the aegis of Tinubu or Nothing 2027 has unveiled 40 National Identification Number (NIN) registration devices in Plateau State, as part of efforts to promote civic inclusion, grassroots participation, and access to national documentation.

New Telegraph reports that the unveiling took place at the weekend in Jos, which also marked the presentation of 120 trained enumerators who will be deployed across Plateau State’s three senatorial zones to commence NIN enrolment at the grassroots.

The Global Convener of Tinubu or Nothing 2027, Comrade Lapshak Yilwatda Goshwe, while speaking during the event, described the initiative as a step toward inclusion and democratic participation.

“Today’s event is more than the unveiling of devices; it is the unveiling of hope, inclusion, and democratic participation. These NIN registration devices represent access—access for our people to be counted, recognised, and to actively participate in shaping the future of Nigeria,” he said.

Goshwe explained that bringing NIN registration closer to communities, particularly youths and underserved populations, would strengthen credible civic engagement and responsible participation in national development.

He added that the initiative aligns with the reform agenda and inclusive vision of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, emphasising continuity, experience, and progressive leadership beyond 2027.

The convener outlined the objectives of Tinubu or Nothing 2027 to include promoting inclusive civic participation, mobilising grassroots awareness on lawful democratic engagement, fostering intergenerational dialogue, supporting continuity in governance, encouraging unity beyond ethnic or religious lines, and strengthening democratic institutions through documentation and voter education.

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof Nentawe Yilwatda, who was represented by Hon. Jibril Banchir, said the initiative would help the party build a credible national database of members.

“This e-registration ensures that every APC member is properly linked to a national database. NIN registration is free in Nigeria, and it is our responsibility to ensure that no one is exploited in the process,” he said.

Banchir urged party members in Plateau State to return to their communities and encourage widespread registration, adding that the APC national leadership would continue to support the Tinubu or Nothing group with additional resources.

Meanwhile, the Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, represented by the Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Hon. Musa Ashoms, commended the convener for the initiative, stressing that civic responsibility should not be left solely to government.

“This is a noble idea that will require cooperation at the community level. As Plateau youths, we are one family, and there is no need for animosity,” Ashoms said.

He announced a personal donation of ₦1 million in support of the programme and pledged to convey the initiative to the governor.

Unveiling the NIN registration machines, the Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Daniel Nanlong Gapyil described the project as impactful and unprecedented in the state.

“You cannot open a bank account, register a SIM card, apply for a passport, or access many government opportunities without NIN. This initiative will positively affect the lives of our people,” he noted.

Gapyil revealed that each device costs about N850,000, amounting to over ₦35 million invested by the convener, and announced a ₦6 million donation from the Plateau State House of Assembly to support the programme.

Similarly, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Dr Bernard Doro, also praised the initiative, describing it as innovative and empowering.

“NIN is critical not only for party registration but for accessing national social registers, student loans, and other federal government interventions. This effort empowers people to access opportunities,” he said.

Dr Doro announced a N1 million donation, matching the contribution earlier made at the event.

In the same vein, the Executive Chairman of Agatu Local Government Council, Benue State, Ambassador James Melvin Ejeh, described the convener as a dynamic young leader and emphasised that NIN registration is essential beyond politics.

“This is about human existence in today’s Nigeria. Very soon, NIN will be a key requirement for employment and access to services,” he said, while donating N1 million to the initiative.

The event concluded with a symbolic activation of the NIN registration devices, marking the official commencement of enrolment across Plateau State.
