The Nigeria Customs Service, Kwara Area Command, has emphasised the importance of royal guidance in ensuring effective Customs operations within the state.
The newly appointed Customs Area Controller in charge of the command, Najeem Ogundeyi, a Deputy Comptroller of Customs, stated this when he visited the Emir of Ilorin, His Royal Highness Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, last week.
The service, while announcing this in a recent post on its Facebook page, explained that the visit formed part of the acting CAC’s familiarisation tour following his recent assumption of duty, adding that Ogundeyi was accompanied by senior officers of the Command to pay homage to the monarch and members of the Ilorin Emirate Traditional Council.
In his remarks, Ogundeyi explained that the visit was aimed at strengthening the existing cordial relationship between the NCS and the traditional institution.
He described the Emir as a symbol of unity and stability. He also emphasised the “importance of royal guidance in ensuring effective Customs operations within the state.”
“This visit has allowed me to formally introduce myself and my management team, while soliciting the cooperation and support of Your Royal Highness and other traditional rulers in promoting peace, security and seamless Customs activities in Kwara State,” Ogundeyi said.
In his response, the Emir commended the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, for deploying experienced and professional officers to Commands across the country, noting that such strategic postings enhance border security and contribute to national economic development.
“I also assure the NCS, Kwara Area Command, of the palace’s continued support and cooperation in the discharge of its statutory responsibilities,” His Royal Highness added.
The visit concluded with prayers from the Emir and a group photograph, symbolising the sustained collaboration between the Service and the traditional institution.
