Ogun Hails OGSTEP for Major State Economy Boost

The Ogun State Head of Service has commended the Ogun State Economic Transformation Project for revitalising and strengthening the state’s development pillars, saying the initiative has touched virtually every sector of the economy.

The Head of Service, Kehinde Onasanya, gave the commendation while receiving the OGSTEP Management Team led by the Project Coordinator, Mosunmola Owo-Odusi, during a farewell visit in Abeokuta.

Onasanya described OGSTEP as a “bold, visionary stimulus” that has become “the engine room of the state’s renaissance,” noting that it has reignited the ISEYA development pillars across the state.

He listed the pillars as education and skills development, agriculture and food security, health, infrastructure, land management, and ease of doing business, adding that they have “greatly transformed the state’s economy.”

The HoS, in a statement, also praised the Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, for what he described as his unwavering commitment to agriculture and land management, noting that the governor assented to a bill establishing the Ogun State Agricultural Land Management Agency.

Onasanya asserted that the agency is mandated to deploy a comprehensive Framework for Responsible and Inclusive Land-Intensive Agricultural Investments for the acquisition, allocation, and management of agricultural land in the state.

He urged the OGSTEP team to prioritise effective monitoring and evaluation to sustain the gains of the project. “The work is not done yet. It must not become a giant that fades into slumber but be sustained maximally,” he said.

The HoS added, “I extend my deepest gratitude to the Project Management Team and all collaborating Ministries, Departments and Agencies for their tireless dedication, strategic execution and unwavering commitment to the project.”

Earlier, the Project Coordinator, Owo-Odusi, said the visit was to appreciate the state government, through the Office of the Head of Service, for its consistent support for the project.

She said OGSTEP has recorded significant achievements since implementation began in 2020 and thanked stakeholders for ensuring the successful execution of the initiative in Ogun State.
