Ijebu Shutdown Party Expands to Boost Tourism

The organisers of the Ijebu Shutdown Party have announced that the event will now be held twice a year, following the widely celebrated success of its maiden edition.

The decision, according to the organisers, was driven by overwhelming acceptance, strong turnout and positive feedback from attendees, stakeholders and the wider Ijebu community.

In a statement, the organisers described the move to a biannual format as a strategic step aimed at deepening the brand’s impact while preserving the quality and cultural essence that defined its debut.

Speaking on the development, the convener of the project, Amuludun Toyosola R., popularly known as Tall Dreaded Guy, said the success of the first edition provided the confidence and structural clarity required to expand the vision.

“The maiden edition clearly showed us that the idea is not only accepted but needed,” he said. “Running the Ijebu Shutdown Party twice a year allows us to build momentum, create consistency, and further establish Ijebu as a hub for premium entertainment experiences rooted in culture.”

The organisers noted that the biannual model is expected to create more opportunities for youth engagement, cultural expression, tourism and brand partnerships, while also allowing sufficient time to plan, innovate and deliver improved editions.

They added that preparations for the next edition are already underway, with plans to scale up production, enhance audience experience, and strengthen collaborations, while retaining the cultural identity that distinguishes the event.

Community members and stakeholders have welcomed the announcement, describing it as a positive step towards sustainable entertainment development in Ijebu Land.

With the new direction, the Ijebu Shutdown Party is evolving from a one-time celebration into a growing cultural movement, positioning itself as a recurring highlight on Ijebu’s entertainment calendar.
