IDL backs Warri’s emerging film hub

Intercontinental Distillers Limited, a major player in Nigeria’s beverage industry and producer of Confam Bitters and Teezers, has reaffirmed its commitment to cultural development and creative expression with its sponsorship of the maiden edition of the Warri International Film Festival in Delta State.

The inaugural festival, held in Warri, attracted filmmakers, creative professionals, policymakers, and film enthusiasts from across the country, providing a platform to celebrate storytelling, cinematic excellence, and emerging talents.

A statement from the firm on Tuesday stated that activities at the event included film screenings, keynote sessions, awards presentations, and networking engagements, positioning Warri as an emerging hub for film and creative arts in the Niger Delta.

As a key sponsor, Intercontinental Distillers Limited added colour and excitement to the festival through activations by its flagship brands, Confam Bitters—popularly known as “Mr. Capable”—and Teezers, described as the “Master of Fun.”

Festival attendees were treated to engaging brand experiences, premium hospitality and refreshments, reinforcing IDL’s image as a company that supports culture, shared experiences, and moments of connection.

Speaking during the event, Founder and Organiser of the Warri International Film Festival, Alex Eyengho, commended Intercontinental Distillers Limited for its support, describing the sponsorship as critical to the success of the festival’s first edition. He said the partnership reflects the growing confidence of corporate Nigeria in the country’s creative economy.

The maiden edition of WARRIFF also attracted notable dignitaries, including representatives of the Delta State Government, members of the National Assembly, local government officials, and key stakeholders from the creative industry. Their presence underscored the festival’s cultural relevance and its socio-economic importance to the region.

Commenting on the sponsorship, the Retail Development Representative of Intercontinental Distillers Limited in Warri, Alex Adjeke, said the company’s participation aligns with its broader corporate vision of empowering communities, supporting youth-focused initiatives, and promoting platforms that showcase Nigerian creativity and innovation.

With a successful debut, the Warri International Film Festival has laid a strong foundation for future editions, positioning itself as a growing fixture on Nigeria’s creative calendar, supported by strategic partnerships with organisations such as Intercontinental Distillers Limited.
