WACT-APM Terminals Honors Customers for Cargo Efficiency

In a bid to honour its customers, the West Africa Container Terminal–APM Terminals Nigeria hosted its maiden Customer Excellence Awards and dinner in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, last week, where it recognised customers for their resilience, loyalty and contributions to improving cargo flow and operational efficiency.

According to a statement on Wednesday, the event also brought together industry leaders, valued customers and partners to celebrate collaboration, innovation and shared success in Nigeria’s port sector.

“The evening recognised customers for their resilience, loyalty and contributions to improving cargo flow and operational efficiency. It also served as a platform to reflect on achievements in 2025 and outline priorities for the year ahead,” the statement read in part.

The Managing Director of WACT–APM Terminals Nigeria, Jeethu Jose, who appreciated the customers, added that they have gone through phases with the terminal operator.

“Our customers have gone through phases with WACT, crushed hurdles and remained true and loyal to our terminal. Thank you for choosing us, thank you for staying with us, and thank you for growing with WACT. Every day is a customer appreciation day, but today is special,” he said.

Jeethu highlighted key milestones achieved through strong collaboration and constructive feedback, including the adoption of digital platforms and e-services that have streamlined processes and improved efficiency.

He reaffirmed WACT’s commitment to continuous improvement and future investment: “We have invested $115m in safety, security, technology and overall efficiency. With your consistent support, we will make WACT the dream terminal for all of us.”

The Chief Executive Officer of APM Terminals Nigeria, Frederik Klinke, echoed this commitment and emphasised the central role of customers in driving progress.

“At APM Terminals, our customers are at the heart of everything we do. This year, we have seen improvements in safety compliance, the greater utilisation of new products and services, and the introduction of new shipping lines at WACT. Every input from your teams impacts us; they are the true winners,” he said.

He also outlined APM Terminals’ investment drive in Nigeria and its ambition for 2026.

“Our efforts to drive exports and enhance operational efficiency will continue. We look forward to even stronger collaboration and patronage as we shape the future of trade together,” Klinke added.

The Chief Commercial Officer, APM Terminals Nigeria, Westtar Kapito, reiterated the company’s commitment to the customers: “Our customer-centric growth strategy ensures every decision, solution, and innovation is designed with you and for you, because your success drives ours.”

According to the Commercial Manager of WACT-APMT Nigeria, Ismaila Badjie, the special occasion will be remembered in the historic relationship between WACT and its esteemed customers.

He further encouraged the customers not to relent in providing their valuable feedback.

One of the awardees, the manager of Ademoke Int’l Agency Limited/West Mercedonia, Alice Etim, said, “With the heart of gratitude, we want to say a very big thank you to WACT–APM Terminals, Onne, for choosing us as one of the best in 2025. It means so much to us and is proof to show our foreign clients that WACT Onne is not just reliable but supportive and encouraging. Thank you once again for the award. We look forward to a better future.”

Another awardee, the Shipping Agency, Hull Blyth Nig, Sheyi Bodunde, said, “The management of Hull Blyth Nig Ltd extends its appreciation of this recognition and looks forward to a more engaging 2026.”

WACT–APM Terminals operate within the Oil and Gas Free Zone at Onne Ports, Rivers State. Over the years, it has evolved into the most efficient gateway for markets outside Lagos, serving as a critical trade hub for Eastern Nigeria and beyond. These awards reflect WACT’s commitment to recognising customers who have demonstrated resilience, innovation and partnership in shaping the future of trade.

The event featured senior government representatives, shipping line executives and leaders from across the maritime industry. Guests enjoyed an evening of celebration, networking and renewed commitment to building sustainable, efficient and customer-focused operations.
