Nottingham Forest Stun Liverpool 3-0 At Anfield

On Sunday evening, November 22, Nottingham Forest secured a dominant 3–0 victory over Liverpool at Anfield, adding to the champions’ growing struggles in their Premier League title defence.

Saturday Telegraph reports that the defeat marked Liverpool’s sixth loss in seven league outings, widening the gap between them and table-toppers Arsenal to eight points.

Forest opened the scoring in the 33rd minute through Brazilian defender Murillo, who capitalised on a corner to put the visitors ahead.

Shortly after the restart, Nicolo Savona extended the advantage with a composed finish, leaving Liverpool chasing the game.

Any hopes of a comeback were extinguished 12 minutes from time when Morgan Gibbs-White reacted quickest to a rebound after Alisson had initially stopped Omari Hutchinson’s effort.

The result means Liverpool have now suffered back-to-back home defeats to Forest and have lost eight of their last 11 matches in all competitions.

It also marks the first time since 1965 that the Reds have fallen to successive league defeats by a three-goal margin.

Manager Arne Slot acknowledged on Friday that the squad is still emotionally affected by the tragic passing of Diogo Jota in a car accident in Spain earlier in July.

That sense of vulnerability was evident in another lacklustre display, leaving Liverpool stuck in 11th place.

This dramatic slump comes despite Liverpool’s heavy investment of over £400 million during the summer transfer window.

Big-money signing Alexander Isak, who joined in a British-record move, was substituted in the second half and is yet to score a league goal for the club.
