HerVest & NemHealth offer free breast cancer screening

Women-focused fintech HerVest has partnered with NemHealth to provide free breast cancer screening and awareness to women.

In a statement on Thursday, it was revealed that the two-part initiative focused on promoting early detection, health education, and preventive care among women in Nigeria.

The PUNCH reports that the initiative was carried out in commemoration of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which was in October. According to the World Health Organisation, the global celebration is held under the theme ‘Every Story is Unique, Every Journey Matters.’

The initiative featured a live awareness session on Instagram themed ‘Health is Wealth: Why Women Should Prioritise Routine Checkups’, followed by a free breast cancer and wellness check held at the HerVest headquarters in Yaba, Lagos.

The free health screening, attended by over 50 women, included breast examinations, blood pressure checks, BMI assessments, and blood sugar testing, all conducted by certified medical practitioners from NemHealth. Participants also benefited from a health talk on early detection and lifestyle choices that reduce breast cancer risk.

Speaking on the initiative, HerVest Chief Executive Officer Solape Akinpelu emphasised the connection between financial and physical wellness.

“At HerVest, we believe that true empowerment begins with good health.

Our mission has always been to support women not just in building wealth but also in sustaining well-being. Partnering with NemHealth allowed us to bring this vision to life in a tangible way,” she said.

Participants expressed their gratitude for the initiative and its impact. One attendee, identified only as Annabelle, shared, “The event has been seamless, and I love how people are eager to learn about breast health and early detection. I encourage every woman to go for regular checkups and stay informed.”

Through initiatives like this, HerVest said it will continue to champion holistic empowerment for women, combining access to finance, health awareness, and education to promote inclusive growth and well-being.
