Meghan Markle Makes Acting Comeback After Years Of Absence From Hollywood

Wife of Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, has made a return to the big screens.

The Duchess of Sussex, best known for her role in the TV series ‘Suits’, will appear in a cameo role in the upcoming film ‘Close Personal Friends’, currently being shot in Los Angeles.

The movie features ‘Emily in Paris’ star Lily Collins, along with Jack Quaid, Brie Larson, and Henry Golding. Reports from Variety described it as a comedy about an ordinary couple who meets a celebrity pair during a trip to Santa Barbara.

Markle, who left acting after marrying Prince Harry, the younger son of King Charles III, has not taken on any film roles until now.

Since stepping back from royal duties in 2020, the couple has lived in California, relying on projects such as their Netflix deal and Meghan’s new lifestyle brand. Their Netflix venture produced the series ‘With Love, Meghan’, which portrayed Markle as a domestic maven mixing bath salts, harvesting honey, and hosting guests.

Although some viewers dismissed the show as “pointless,” it has been renewed for a second season, with a holiday special scheduled for December 2025.

LEADERSHIP reports that the couple has struggled to maintain public interest since ‘Harry & Meghan‘, their six-part Netflix documentary about their relationship and departure from royal life which drew a record 23 million views within its first four days.

Harry’s memoir ‘Spare’, released in January 2023, also stirred controversy with its sharp criticism of royal family members, including his brother William, William’s wife Catherine, and his stepmother, Queen Camilla.

Harry has since expressed hopes for reconciliation and met with King Charles, 76, in London in September 2025, a few months after it was disclosed that the monarch was receiving treatment for an undisclosed cancer.
