SAA Boosts Flight Frequency for 2025 Festive Season

South African Airways has announced a boost in flight frequencies across key regional and international routes in preparation for the upcoming festive season, with changes taking effect from Wednesday, October 1, 2025.

Disclosing this in a statement signed by its Chief Commercial Officer, Tebogo Tsimaneto, and made available to The PUNCH on Wednesday, the airline said this decision was in response to growing demand during one of the busiest travel periods of the year.

The airline will, however, introduce additional flights on several high-traffic routes to provide customers with more flexibility, convenience, and travel options.

It explained that the increased frequencies will be effected on three major routes, which include “Johannesburg–Lagos (LOS): Starting October 6, 2025, this route will now operate six times a week, with new Monday and Tuesday flights added.

“Johannesburg–Accra: From October 1, 2025, SAA will fly this route six times a week, with new services on Wednesdays and Fridays, and Johannesburg–São Paulo (GRU): From December 10, 2025, flights will increase with new departures on Wednesdays and Sundays.

“These seasonal adjustments will run through to February 11, 2026, covering major end-of-year travel periods and key cultural celebrations such as Detty December, AfroFuture in Ghana, and the lead-up to Brazil’s vibrant Carnival season.”

SAA’s Chief Commercial Officer added that “South African Airways is strengthening its network with more flights, more frequencies, and more opportunities to connect Africa to the world. We are aiming higher to serve our customers better this festive season.”

SAA also emphasised its commitment to offering passengers seamless connections and world-class service, underscored by its signature African hospitality.
