Energy firm SolarCity Gas has unveiled plans to deploy superfast electric vehicle chargers across Nigeria as the adoption of EVs gathers momentum in the country.
Managing Director/ Chief Executive Officer of Solarcity Gas, Okeowo Olasubomi, disclosed the move at the just-concluded GITEX show, where he announced that his firm will commission the first set of chargers in November 2025.
Olasubomi, whose firm trades internationally as AllTravell Energies LLC, said Solarcity Gas had partnered with leading petrol stations and “choice spots” nationwide to install the charging points. He stressed that the rollout was designed to meet the increasing demand for EV infrastructure.
“We have partnered with leading petrol stations and also chosen spots where superfast EV chargers will be stationed across Nigeria,” he said. “Electric vehicles are coming into Nigeria with great speed, hence it requires that the right infrastructures be put in place to get the country going.”
The CEO emphasised that only fast-charging technology would be deployed. “If the chargers are not superfast, we will not deploy them,” he stated, while urging interested buyers to visit the company’s website for details on the available models.
