‘Burna Boy Is My Number 1 Artiste In Nigeria’, 2Baba Declares

Legendary Nigerian singer, Innocent Idibia, a.k.a 2Baba, has declared Grammy-winning superstar Burna Boy as his personal number one artiste in the country.

The Afrobeats pioneer made the remark during an interview on Urban Radio, where he praised Burna Boy’s artistry, consistency, and influence among the new generation of music stars.

“There are some people already up there. Among them, we have the ones who are plain hardworking, and we have the ones who have the talent but have decided to do the commercial thing,” 2Baba explained.

“We have Burna Boy, Wizkid, Davido, Tiwa Savage, Asake, Adekunle Gold, Olamide; it’s a long list. But on a personal level, Burna Boy is my number one.

“Although I still have others whose style and the way they carry themselves I really like. To answer this question, Burna Boy is my number one right now. I say that because he is the senior among the people I’m referring to,” he added.

LEADERSHIP reports that 2Baba’s comments came weeks after his evergreen hit ‘African Queen’ was named by Billboard as the best Afrobeats song of all time, with the publication describing the hit son as “a love letter to a generation of women from the continent”. The iconic track was also praised for its tender admiration and unforgettable music video.

Meanwhile, Burna Boy’s breakout anthem ‘Ye’ also secured a spot on Billboard’s list of the Top 10 Afrobeats Songs of All Time, further cementing his place as one of Africa’s biggest music exports.
