Villagers demolish murder suspect’s house in Umuahia


The family house of a murder suspect, Mr Stephen Irobunda has been demolished in Ohokobe Ndume Umuahia, Abia State.

The house was pulled down on Tuesday by youths of the community, in revenge for the death of their maternal son, Bright Odizuru who was shot dead by Mr Irobunda.

The suspect, who is about 70 years, shot dead Mr Bright Odizuru whom he accused of playing football in front of his house on Saturday and is presently detained by the Police at State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID).

When journalists arrived at the scene of the demolition at 10: am, the building had been brought down even as other destroyed property of the suspect were thrown out along the Umuahia-Ikot Ekpene road.

Some of the youths were seen sounding the community gong in solidarity while others were seen lamenting the death of the victim.

The killing of the youth, whose maternal home is Ohokobe, created tension in the neighborhood on Saturday, even as Abia State Police Command said that the matter is being investigated at SCID, Umuahia.
