Two suspected phone robbers arrested in Minna


Two suspected tricycle robbers arrested in Minna metropolis are presently cooling their heels in the custody of the Police in Niger State for robbing a victim of his mobile phone.

They were picked up by the officers of Kpakungu Police Division on October 31, 2024.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, in Minna said, the suspects were nabbed following report from a victim robbed of his phone.

“On receipt of the report, the police operatives of the division, with credible intelligence, arrested two suspects in connection with the crime, ” he stated.

The suspects are Azifi Lawal, aka Maka, 25, and Abubakar Saidu, aka Yaro, respectively of Soje B and Gbeganu area of Minna.

Abiodun explained that the victim boarded a tricycle from Gidan-Kwano area to Dama. He met two passengers there-in, and while on their way close to Dama, the two passengers conspired, attacked and robbed him of his phone and escaped into the near bush.

He disclosed that during interrogation, the suspects confessed to the crime and other similar robberies.

“They mentioned one Mubarak of Dutsen-Kura area as part of their gang members. Meanwhile, investigation is ongoing to recover the stolen phones and arrest the fleeing suspect, ” Abiodun further stated.
