The United Bank for Africa has launched the fifth season of its Supersavers Promo, offering an N150m prize.
The savings promo was launched at its headquarters on Friday in a press conference, which had in attendance the Group Deputy Managing Director, Chukwuma Nweke; the Group Head, Retail and Digital Banking, Shamsideen Fashola; the Group Head, Marketing and Corporate Communications, Alero Ladipo; other executives; and regulatory representatives.
SuperSavers promo, a nine-month campaign designed to reward customers, attract new savers, and drive financial inclusion across Nigeria, is scheduled to run from September 2025 to May 2026.
Speaking at the promo launch, Nweke said, “Saving in the life of a nation is very important, because they need to plan their lives in a manner to be able to meet future needs. At UBA, that’s all we’re known for: to provide an enabling environment for our customers and people who are not even our customers to plan their lives and the lives of their loved ones. Families and individuals should be able to plan the education of their children, to be able to plan to buy their homes, and to be able to set up businesses to meet particular needs in their lives. So, UBA has curated different savings products that enable people to meet these needs and to meet these targets.
So today, we are launching this promo to enable people to buy into all the savings products that we have curated.
“We are not only encouraging our customers to save for the future but also providing them with the opportunity and platform to win different prizes and achieve different goals. This helps the country and the economy as well, because there is more sustainable funding for the different layers of infrastructure and loans that customers usually ask for. So, as we generate savings, as citizens of Nigeria save, we’re able to lend long-term to people who need this for their businesses, for building infrastructure in the country, so it’s at the heart of driving the economy of the country. We welcome UBA customers and non-UBA customers to participate in this promo to save towards goals.
Providing insights into the promo, Fashola said, “Five years ago, we started a back-to-back campaign to incentivise and encourage our teeming customers to save towards different goals. The objective is very clear: people are willing to save, but how do you encourage them to save? How do we also bring on the underserved and underbanked community to come and save with UBA? Last year, in commemoration of our 75th anniversary, we launched a special promo in line with the theme of our 75th anniversary. During that period, we rewarded thousands of customers and gave out N150m.”
Fashola added that all a customer needs to do is save N5,000 in their ‘Bumpa’ account and N10,000 for other types of savings accounts to qualify for the draw, with the frequency of deposits boosting the chances of winning.
He maintained that the bank would be going across the country with the message of the promo and also to boost financial inclusion.
“We’ll be going to different locations in Niger to drive and encourage people to open this account. We go into different states for activations in markets, bus parks, campuses, and villages. As you know, UBA has branches across the federation, both in urban and rural areas, so we will be meeting them and encouraging them to open accounts with UBA.
Echoing the call for boosting financial inclusion, Ladipo said, “One of the reasons UBA has continued to do this draw over the last five years is about financial inclusion. We still have a lot of ground to cover to empower citizens in Nigeria around their own financial independence. And we find this promo as one way to empower Nigerians, give them financial independence, expose them to innovation and provide them with safe and secure ways to carry out their banking and to grow.”
