Stakeholders in the precious minerals sector are preparing to champion gold and gemstone development at the Gold and Gemstone Conference and Exhibition 2025, scheduled to be held from November 24 to 28 in Lagos.
The conference, which will take place at the Lagos Oriental Hotel, Lekki, is expected to bring together industry leaders, investors, miners, jewellers, regulators, and government agencies from across Africa and beyond.
According to a statement, the summit will be held under the theme ‘Accelerating Collaboration for Sustainable Gold and Gemstone Development in Africa.’ The five-day event will feature high-level dialogue, policy exchange, investment matchmaking, and exhibitions of precious stones, mining equipment, and artisanal crafts.
President of Women in Mining in Nigeria, Janet Adeyemi, who is leading the organising team, said the summit aims to position Nigeria as a global player in the precious minerals sector.
Adeyemi stated, “GGCE 2025 is more than an event; it’s a movement to unlock Africa’s mineral wealth responsibly and inclusively.
With rising global demand for ethically sourced gold and gemstones, now is the time for Nigeria to claim its rightful position on the world stage.”
The summit will spotlight artisanal and women miners, sustainable mining practices, and strategies for value addition.
Key features include expert panel sessions, an exhibition pavilion, investment pitches for start-ups and cooperatives, masterclasses on gem grading and jewellery design, and a jewellery-making competition for Nigerian jewellers.
Organisers added that the conference would also provide a platform for government and private sector stakeholders to strengthen collaboration on mining policies, ethical sourcing, and export compliance.
Expected participants include miners, jewellers, gem traders, regulators, investors, equipment suppliers, financial institutions, and academia.
The event will close with a gala dinner, networking sessions, and a fashion show, designed to showcase the creative potential of Nigeria’s gemstone and jewellery industry.
