Cornerstone Insurance Unveils AI Chatbot “Cici”

Cornerstone Insurance has introduced a new AI-powered chatbot named Cici.

At the unveiling at its headquarters in Lagos, the officials of the firm disclosed that the chatbot will improve customer experience and operational efficiency.

The chatbot, which is available on multiple platforms, is able to help customers buy pre-priced insurance policies, assist with claims settlement and more.

On the new chatbot, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Cornerstone Insurance Plc, Stephen Alangbo, said, “The evolution of our chatbot from a static knowledge base to a generative AI-powered solution reflects our commitment to redefining customer engagement in the insurance industry. With Cici, we have moved beyond pre-set answers to deliver intelligent, context-aware conversations that are fast, accurate, and personalised. This transformation not only enhances the customer experience but also improves operational efficiency, scalability, and compliance. At Cornerstone Insurance Plc, we see technology like Cici as a vital partner in making insurance simpler, smarter, and more accessible for everyone.”

The Deputy Chief Technology Officer, Oluwarotimi Adediji, during his presentation of the chatbot, said, “Cici is built on regenerative AI with advanced natural language. We stand to achieve with this number one: speed, accuracy, and availability. At the end of it, for us, customer satisfaction is the goal. Cici is smart and scalable. And when I say smart and scalable, it means that for complex queries, it will give you human-like interactions. You can interact with the system like you’re talking to someone with WhatsApp or Facebook.”

The Head of Digitisation and Projects, Jafar Elamah, in his comments, highlighted that the chatbot had been trained to be able to respond to not just external customers but also internal customers who need information on how to go about their daily business. Also, the chatbot is able to attend to multiple requests at the same time.

“There is also the aspect of being able to solve repetitive tasks. That’s what we call robotic process oscillation, which is now embedded in AI agents. So, there are basic things that human beings can do, which are repetitive, which you can now train the bots to do and to complete the task in real time,” he averred.
