The Financial Times has stated that the 12th edition of its flagship FT Africa Summit will explore how Nigeria and other African countries are embracing innovation and economic transformation.
The summit, scheduled for October 21–22, 2025, at The Peninsula, London, will run under the theme ‘Africa in a Changing World’.
The FT said the meeting would “spotlight Africa’s hoped-for transition to renewable energy and industrial expansion, and the rising influence of youth-led entrepreneurship in shaping sustainable, inclusive growth.”
It added that the conference will also explore the continent’s global role at a time of geopolitical uncertainty, economic shifts, and rapid technological change.
The FT said the summit will discuss “policy shifts in Nigeria, Angola and South Africa, as well as advances in fintech, AI, and digital infrastructure.” It will feature ministers and business leaders from Nigeria, Egypt, Mauritius, Kenya, Senegal, Angola, and South Africa.
This year’s confirmed speakers include Chairperson, African Union Commission, Mahmoud Youssouf; Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, South Africa, Ronald Lamola; Chief Minister and Chief Innovation Officer, Government of Sierra Leone, Dr David Sengeh; Minister of Finance, Angola, Vera Daves de Sousa; Chairman, Infinity Power, Mohamed Mansour; and Senior Vice President Africa, TotalEnergies, Mike Sangster.
The conference will be facilitated by senior FT editors and cover topics ranging from geopolitics to trade, energy, infrastructure, investment, and finance.
FT Africa Editor, David Pilling, said, “Now in its 12th year, the FT Africa Summit offers a vital platform to examine Africa’s role in a rapidly changing world. This year’s agenda brings together leaders and innovators to explore how African nations are approaching diplomacy, digital growth, and development priorities in bold new ways.”
FT Foreign Editor Alec Russell added, “South Africa’s hosting of the G20 summit in November underlines Africa’s elevated role on the global stage, but it also comes at the end of a testing year for the continent. The FT summit provides a forum for candid dialogue on Africa’s knotty geopolitical challenges and also fresh thinking on the quest for investment and innovation.”
The FT noted that the summit has become a major platform linking Africa with the global community, offering direct access to investors, development institutions, and stakeholders shaping Africa’s future narrative.
