The Nigerian Institute of Management has elevated Deputy Station Manager, Airfrance KLM Airlines, Lagos, Damilola Ogunseye to the prestigious Fellow grade in recognition of his significant contributions to the management profession, the Institute, and broader society.
In a letter obtained by The PUNCH on Wednesday and signed by Registrar and Chief Executive Taiwo Ganiyat Olusesi, the institute conveyed that the council’s approval of Ogunseye’s elevation was based on his professional excellence, leadership in the aviation sector, and support for the development of management practices in Nigeria.
“This unique award is conferred on members who have contributed to the development of the Institute, the management profession, and civil society at large,” the letter read.
“As a fellow, you will be required to be actively involved in all programmes of the Institute through the Faculty of Fellows, where your core competence and area of specialisation will be brought to bear and utilised.”
The official conferment ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, August 21.

In preparation for the ceremony, Ogunseye is expected to submit a range of documents, including a citation, passport photograph, Fellowship acceptance form, sectoral group preference, and proof of payment for associated dues.
The institute emphasised that the fellowship award cannot be received by proxy, and any candidate unable to attend the scheduled event must notify the institute in advance, after fulfilling all financial obligations. At the president’s discretion, such an award may be presented at one of the Institute’s other major events within the year.
The recognition of Ogunseye marks a significant milestone in his professional journey. As a senior aviation executive, he has overseen ground operations, enhanced customer experience strategies, and provided critical leadership at one of Nigeria’s busiest international airline stations.
His elevation to the grade of Fellow reflects the value of cross-sectoral leadership within management disciplines, particularly in regulated and high-impact industries such as aviation, the institute noted.
Founded in 1961 and granted a charter by Act No. 14 of 2003, the Nigerian Institute of Management is a leading professional body dedicated to promoting excellence, integrity, and innovation in management across Nigeria’s public and private sectors.
According to the Institute, Fellows are expected to lead initiatives, mentor upcoming professionals, and actively contribute to policy development through the Faculty of Fellows, where sectoral knowledge and practical experience converge to shape Nigeria’s future leadership landscape.
