Omoni Oboli Reveals Secret Behind 24-Year Marriage

Veteran Nollywood actress and filmmaker, Omoni Oboli, has opened up about the key principles that have sustained her 24-year marriage to her husband, Nnamdi Oboli.

Speaking on the podcast #WithChude, hosted by media personality Chude Jideonwo, Omoni said their long-lasting union is rooted in a firm decision made even before they tied the knot: divorce was never an option.

“Staying married for over two decades , first things first, you have to decide. It’s a decision. From day one, we decided that divorce was not an option, even before we got married,” she stated.

The actress revealed that this strong commitment helped them weather the inevitable challenges of married life, particularly during a difficult first year together.

Omoni, who is a mother of three, also emphasised the power of forgiveness in sustaining a healthy relationship.

“There’s almost nothing someone can do that you can’t forgive, if you want to forgive. We all have to realise that we’re all sinners,” she said.

Sharing details of their unique love story, Omoni recalled that Nnamdi proposed just two weeks after they met, and they got married four months later.

Though she was young and uncertain at the time, she was drawn to the way he loved her—with depth and sincerity.

Her husband, Nnamdi Oboli, also shared his thoughts during the interview, offering advice to younger couples. He stressed that marriage is a responsibility, and not something that should be approached passively.

“Marriage is a responsibility. You don’t go into a marriage expecting it to happen to you. You are the relationship. It’s between two people; you have to make it work,” he said.

Together, the Obolis continue to serve as one of Nollywood’s enduring examples of love, commitment, and intentional partnership.
