Ranganath Honored for Driving Africa’s Digital Economy


Regional Executive, West Africa, at Africa Data Centres, Dr. Krishnan Ranganath, has received fresh industry recognition for his pivotal role in advancing the continent’s digital economy.

The executive, popularly known in the industry as Dr. Krish, was named Digital Economy Trailblazer of the Year at the 2025 Digital Innovation Awards held in Accra, Ghana. The award, presented by InstinctWave Group, highlights his contributions to building critical data infrastructure across Nigeria and Africa.

Speaking after the ceremony at the Labadi Beach Resort, Accra, recently, Chief Executive Officer of InstinctWave, Akin Naphtal, described Ranganath as a key figure in Africa’s digital transformation journey.

“Dr. Krishnan has been instrumental in fuelling Nigeria’s digital economy pursuit,” Naphtal said. “His strategic vision and leadership in expanding data centre infrastructure are not just foundational; they are the bedrock upon which the continent’s digital growth is being built.”

According to Naphtal, the recognition is more than an award; it is a celebration of sustained effort and a signal of the industry’s confidence in Ranganath’s contributions.

“Dr. Krishnan is undeniably one of the most critical stakeholders championing the digital revolution across Africa,” he said.

In his remarks, the executive expressed gratitude for the recognition, dedicating the award to his colleagues at Africa Data Centres, industry stakeholders, and his family.

“I am incredibly honoured to have been deemed worthy of this award,” Dr. Ranganath said. “This is not just about personal achievement; it reflects the collective efforts of my team and our shared mission to create a digital future for Africa.”

The latest award adds to a series of recognitions Dr. Ranganath has received this year. Earlier, he was listed among the Top 50 Most Valuable Personalities in Nigeria’s Digital Economy and won the Digital Transformation Pioneer Award at the African Beacon of ICT Awards.

Africa Data Centres, where Dr. Ranganath leads operations for West Africa, has been at the forefront of developing data infrastructure to support the region’s fast-growing digital economy. The company operates carrier-neutral data centres, providing critical support for cloud services, enterprise IT, and financial services across the continent.
