Africa World Airlines has been officially inducted into the International Air Transport Association’s Safety Leadership Charter, a prestigious recognition of the airline’s commitment to the highest safety standards in the aviation industry.

In a statement made available to The PUNCH, AWA’s Head of Safety, Andrew Asante-Amankwa, described the induction as a significant milestone for the airline.

He said, “We are proud to announce that Africa World Airlines has officially been inducted into the prestigious IATA Safety Leadership Charter. This recognition highlights our unwavering commitment to fostering a strong safety culture across all levels of our organisation.”

The IATA Safety Leadership Charter recognises airlines that demonstrate exceptional leadership, accountability, and a continuous commitment to safety improvement.

Joining the Charter, AWA now stands among a select group of global carriers dedicated to setting and upholding the highest standards in aviation safety.

The Charter was jointly signed by IATA Director-General Willie Walsh and AWA CEO Mr. Cui, symbolising a shared commitment to advancing safety culture across the aviation industry.

According to the statement, established with the belief that a strong safety culture is essential for operational success, the Charter encourages open reporting, trust-based employee engagement, and proactive safety risk management.

Africa World Airlines’ inclusion in the Charter reaffirms its position as a leading carrier in West Africa, prioritising safety as a foundational element of its operations and long-term growth.
