Jumia, Africa’s leading e-commerce platform, has appointed Temidayo Ojo as the new Chief Executive Officer of Jumia Nigeria, marking a significant leadership transition within the company.
The appointment, announced on Monday, sees Mr. Ojo succeed Mr. Sunil Natraj, who led Jumia Nigeria through a period of economic and operational change, restoring growth and consumer confidence.
According to the company, Mr. Ojo’s elevation is part of Jumia’s strategy to empower local leaders and develop talent from within its organisation.
Ojo joined Jumia in 2020 as Head of Planning and Performance before moving up to Chief Commercial Officer. He later served as CEO of Jumia Ghana, where he steered the business to record-breaking growth while fostering a strong team culture.
Reacting to his new role, Ojo said, “I am deeply honoured to be entrusted with the leadership of Jumia Nigeria, a market that holds immense potential and strategic importance.
As someone who grew up in Nigeria and understands the unique needs of our customers and partners, this role is deeply personal to me.”
He added, “I look forward to working with our amazing team to drive greater impact, deepen customer trust, and take our business to new heights.”
The new CEO holds an MBA in Finance, Strategy, and Consulting from IESE Business School and a bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the University of Lagos.
Chief Executive Officer of Jumia, Francis Dufay, welcomed the appointment, saying, “I’m excited to welcome Temidayo to this new role. His leadership in Ghana has shown what’s possible when a strong team shares a clear vision. His energy, values, and business acumen make him the right person to lead Jumia Nigeria into its next chapter.”
Dufay also praised Natraj for his contributions, stating, “We are grateful for Sunil’s leadership, particularly in leading the turnaround of our largest operation. We wish him the very best.”
Jumia also announced that Seleem Musibau will take over from Ojo as the new CEO of Jumia Ghana.
The company said the leadership changes reflect its broader commitment to nurturing homegrown talent and driving innovation and sustainable growth across Africa.
