Lagos Hosts Packaging Industry Gian

Key players in the packaging, plastics, printing and processing industries are expected to converge on Lagos from September 9 to 11 for the 12th edition of Propak West Africa, one of the region’s industrial trade exhibitions.

The annual event, to be held at the Landmark Centre, is set to bring together over 5,500 professionals and more than 250 exhibiting companies from across Nigeria and abroad. According to the organisers, this year’s edition is expected to be the largest in the event’s history.

In a statement, the organisers said the exhibition would feature a wide range of machinery and technology displays, including injection and blow moulding machines, sachet packing systems and weighing equipment, with over 15 machines set to run live demonstrations on the exhibition floor.

Major international manufacturers and service providers such as Krones AG, BBM Maschinenbau, Sacmi, Piovan Group, Reifenhauser Blown Film, Windmoeller & Holscher and Milacron India are among the confirmed participants.

They would be joined by a strong contingent of local firms, including Veepee Group, JMG Ltd, Adeco Project Engineering, Ankan Group and SBA Nigeria. Beyond the exhibition, Propak will feature a series of conferences and technical sessions.

The summit on the opening day would focus on ’Shaping the Future of Packaging in West Africa’ while the final day would explore ’Access to Finance for Industrial Growth’.

Confirmed speakers include representatives from Unilever Nigeria Plc, Guinness Nigeria, FrieslandCampina WAMCO and UAC Foods. The statement added that there is a full range of conference and technical sessions for CEO’s and technicians alike to discover, learn and engage with thought leaders on multiple topics.

“The headline summit would look into topics around Shaping the Future of Packaging in West Africa on the first day with the third day focusing on Access to Finance for Industrial Growth. Speakers on these stages come from the likes of Guinness Nigeria, Unilever Nigeria Plc, UAC Foods and FrieslandCampina to name just a few.

“KPMG Nigeria are returning as Strategic Partners to run the dedicated sustainability focus day on the 10th September under the theme, Lifecycle Data Management for Sustainable Packaging Systems, which promises to engage the manufacturing community on ways that data becomes an enabler of the circular economy,” the statement stated.

With the exhibition now a little over two months away, the organisers said there was much more to be announced over the coming weeks and urged all those interested in staying in touch to register for the exhibition and be kept informed of the new conference sessions, exhibitors, and features that are in store.
